Africa

When it comes to travel, it doesn’t get much better than Africa in my opinion… but then I probably am a little biased!

From the southern tip to the eastern beaches, the northern Nile cruises to the west wilderness, I’ve travelled huge swathes of this continent and loved every single minute of it!

Making most of my adventures here as a solo female, largely using public transport or cheap overland trucks, I can also testify to the fact I’ve always felt safe, welcomed and at home here.

If you want to feel alive when you travel, invigorated, enriched and enraptured, then Africa is the one!

From the amazing ancient treasures in Egypt to the Saharan views in Morocco, the never-ending desert delight of Namibia or the whale watching opportunities of Mozambique, this continent is about as rich as they come.

And who can forget all the amazing wildlife encounters you can have inbetween – be it elephants in Chobe River National Park, Leopards in the Masai Mara, Cheetahs in Serengeti or Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – you can’t deny this part of the world isn’t jampacked with wonders.

And then of course, there’s the islands!

From Zanzibar to Cape Verde, Madagascar to Mauritius, these are some of the most fascinating and diverse drops in the ocean out there.

And to top it all off, you’ve got the dizzy heights of Kilimanjaro, the ancient rock churches of Ethiopia, the vast watery magic of the Okavango Delta and Victoria Falls, plus the insatiable allure of Cape Town.

So no matter whether its safari-riding, scuba diving, sun-worshipping or sunset watching, history-hunting, souk haggling or hyena snapping, temple ticking, Tigray trekking or iron ore train-riding – Africa has you covered!

No matter what time of year you visit and what type of budget you have, you’re sure to find a corner of this continent that suits you.

And you know what my advice is when you do? …

Just go!
