Finland

Most famous as the home of Father Christmas, there’s no doubt Finnish Lapland steals the limelight during the European winter months.

From Northern Lights spotting to husky sledging, reindeer petting and snowmobiling, Lapland in the snowy months truly is a winter wonderland – a dream bucket list trip, I’m so glad I’ve got to experience.

But the summer here is not to be discounted either.

Long, sunny days, make a trip to the central lake region unmissable and the capital of Helsinki in the south makes a wonderful city break any time of year.

With lots of islands to discover and easy access by ferry to Tallinn in Estonia, or Stockholm in Sweden, Finland is perfect to visit alone or pair with other countries as part of a longer Nordic tour.

Check out these articles I’ve written about my time there…
