Mozambique

Tucked down in the bottom corner of southern Africa, Mozambique is a pretty unique destination in this region.

Dominated by the beautiful Indian Ocean that laps at its shores, this coastal nation is all about the beach and marine life, rather than your usual safari and bush experience.

But this doesn’t mean you should discount Mozambique from your southern Africa experience, instead it’s an absolute must, up there if you’re a fan of snorkelling, scuba diving, whale sharks, white sand beaches and chilled sandy vibes.

And quite frankly, who isn’t a fan of these?!

The south of the country, around the city of Inhambane, is the most visited part of the Mozambique, thanks to its proximity to the capital, Maputo, as well as the easy border crossing with South Africa.

Here Tofo and Barra are the most tourist friendly beaches thanks to their great array of water sports and beautiful sandy strips.

But further north is where the real adventure lies with remote archipelagos, like the Bazaruto Archipelago, just begging to be explored by the more intrepid.
