Switzerland
Well not known for its budget-friendly travel opportunities, Switzerland is, however, a country well worth the splurge!
I’ve travelled mostly in the southern region of Valais here – a multi-lingual part of the country located in the south, close to the Italian border, and only a few hours by train from Geneva.
The capital of wine in Switzerland, Valais offers traditional villages, beautiful nature reserves and plenty of amazing raclette and wine tasting among it’s stunning rural landscapes.
Beyond this, Switzerland is, of course, famous for its hiking and skiing possibilities, with the beautiful Alps forming the backbone of the country’s tourism offerings.
Outside of this, cities Bern, Lucerne, Basel and Interlaken offer plenty for the sightsee-er, train rider and view-lover!
All in all, Switzerland is worth saving up for… there’s few countries likely to take your breath away in quite the same way!
