Eswatini

Nestled in the midst of South Africa, the tiny kingdom of Eswatini (formerly known as Swaziland) is a gorgeous spot to visit for a few days.

Easy to tie in with trips to South Africa – particularly if you are venturing across to Kruger National Park or Mozambique – Eswatini is filled with beautiful national parks and some gorgeous elevated scenery.

With far fewer tourists than its neighbour South Africa, Eswatini also offers the opportunity to get away from the crowds and to enjoy some amazing wildlife spotting and traditional culture experiences in a lowkey setting.

Hlane Royal National Park, Mkhaya Game Reserve and Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary are the best places to head for, with the former offering amazing rhino trekking experiences on foot – quite the experience I can tell you!

There’s also hiking, white water rafting, horse riding and mountain biking to enjoy in this amazing hilly terrain, as well as camping under the stars.
