Belgium

A small country in the heart of Northern Europe, and the seat of the EU, Belgium is famous mostly for beers and waffles!

But there’s a whole heap of other things to enjoy in this often overlooked country too.

Cities Brussels and Bruges top the agenda, with regular non-flying transport from the UK, including Eurostar and ferry access, that appeal to those watching their carbon-footprint.

But the real jewel in the Belgium crown in my opinion, is medieval Ghent.

Beautifully preserved and utterly charming, this city in the region of Flanders is easily accessible by train from Brussels and warrants at least 2 days of exploration.

Antwerp is another great spot to explore in this country, meaning a week in Belgium would fly by!
