So I’m interrupting the current line of Portuguese content, to bring you news from one another of my latest trips, which you’ll know if you follow me on Instagram, was an incredible ski trip in the French Alps!
I know, totally amazing!
This was actually my first ever time on a ski holiday but, at the ripe old age of 37, I’m totally delighted to say that I’ve learnt to ski and that I love it!
That said, I think it’s also important to point out right now that this article is actually not about the ski trip itself – no dear readers that content is still yet to come! – this article is actually about what I did after the ski trip… namely get a superb home massage in London from a company called Fantastic Services.
And let me tell you, not only did I learn to ski recently, but I also learnt that a massage is the one thing you need to have arranged for after a ski trip too!
And here’s why…

Perfect Post Ski Activity
I like to think I’m pretty fit and active – I tend to exercise a lot and the yoga I do certainly keeps me flexible – but even then, it’s clear that learning to ski meant I was using a lot of muscles I didn’t even I know I had… and those included brain muscles!
So perhaps it’s unsurprising that, when I came back from a week’s skiing in the French Alps, I was definitely feeling pretty stiff!
Thankfully I didn’t sustain any injuries during my first ski foray, but it’s true that I could certainly feel all that downhill action in my knees, not to mention in my tight hips and calf muscles.
And that’s because skiing is a pretty unique form of exercise and definitely not one my body was accustomed to!
As such, I could not have been happier that, the day after I arrived back home from skiing, I’d booked in a fabulous massage!
It was exactly what my body was crying out for and certainly proved to be the most effective thing to ensure that I recovered from the trip without even an ache or pain… and could happily cycle into my co-working space the following day to start normal life once again!
Because yes, getting back to “normal” life was certainly the hardest part of the ski trip recovery!
Home Massage in London
Because we all know what it’s like when you get back from an epic holiday – one that has totally allowed you to put normal life to one side and completely escape into a different world where you can really relax and enjoy yourself.
And that is absolutely what this skiing trip was for me.
What this does mean however, is that when you get home, there’s usually a lot to sort out!
From the unpacking and washing duties to the life admin, house sorting, pending email and unanswered messages you’ve got to attend to, coming back from a wonderful trip away can sometimes be a rude awakening!
It can also feel overwhelming and like you simply don’t have time to fit anything else in – including a massage… no matter how good you realise it will be for you!
Which is precisely why Fantastic Services’ home massage was the perfect solution to my post-ski situation.
Yes brilliantly, this company come to your home, which means you don’t even have to go anywhere to receive an amazing massage!
You can totally get on with the unpacking and the washing knowing that your professional massage therapist will turn up at your home (at an arranged time) and all you have to do is create a relaxing space for them to set up their table and provide the towels!
Bringing their professional massage table and essential oils to your home means you really don’t have to think about anything, except perhaps where you in your home you want to receive your treatment (and oh set up a suitable Spotify playlist – I recommend this one) and what mood lighting will help you relax.
You’ll also need to get some towels ready for the therapist to use, because in the covid era they recommend using your own towels – and honestly, this suited me just fine!
Booking your Massage
Fantastic Services currently offer their home massage treatments across London – and this is soon to be rolled out across the UK.
All you have to do is head to their website and book in the treatment you want for the amount of time you want.
Then simply choose the therapist you’d like (male / female), pay the fee and wait to receive your confirmation email. Yes it’s that easy!
And all you have to do next is sit, back relax and wait for your therapist to arrive.
Given how busy they get, I absolutely recommend booking in a massage with them before your ski trip to ensure you can get a slot right after you return and also to ensure you have something to look forward to when you get back!
They have a huge number of different types of massage you can book too, as well a selection of add-ons, which really means you can tailor your massage to both your budget and your requirements.
Personally, I knew that I wanted to relax and booked myself a 90minute Swedish massage with an additional head and foot massage for good measure!
But for those of you who might have specific needs or be more advanced skiers, a sports therapy massage would be a great post-ski option to go for.
In for a penny in for a pound I say!
I am sure am glad I went for those head and foot extras, as well as a 90 minute full body slot, because my massage proved to be just the post-ski ticket!
Removing all those skiing aches and pains, plus making sure I kept that relaxed post-holiday feeling going, my therapist was both professional and diligent.
Applying the right amount of pressure, the therapist made sure she kept checking in that I was ok and went above and beyond to deliver exactly the treatment I needed.
I had selected a female therapist, because as a female living alone this felt safer for me, and I’m glad to say I felt totally comfortable with her being in my house at all times.
Polite and kind, it was an excellent massage with a choice of essential oils that really allowed me to unwind during the experience!
And as I said, it was the perfect way to ensure I finished my ski trip not only in style but without any physical discomforts too.
So if you’re looking to book a ski trip, then don’t forget the essential part of this holiday when you get home!
