GF Victoria Tenerife: Luxury Hotel Review

GF Victoria Review

If you’re looking to experience the bouji side of Tenerife, then can I kindly point you in the direction of the GF Victoria!

This super swanky, ultra modern, expansive property is one of the latest top hotels to grace the fancy Costa Adeje strip in the south of the island… and it’s certainly upped the game.

A unique array of luxury features, impeccable service and huge suite rooms as standard, make this the place to stay for families, couples and groups looking for an unforgettable break on the Spanish island.

I even recommend it as my top accommodation pick in south Tenerife on my perfect 1 week island itinerary.

So if you’re looking for a Canary Island holiday with a lick of luxury, learn why I think the GF Victoria Tenerife needs to be on your radar…

The Luxury Set

Tenerife, GF Victoria, Sign

My brother and his family are the type of people who like nice holidays.

His wife works in the City, he’s a civil servant and they live in the home counties.

The arrival of their daughter a couple of years ago (yes my niece!) meant they had, of course, to change the way they enjoyed their annual breaks.

But being a trio, rather than a pair, was not a sign for them to compromise on quality.

Great food and wine experiences, luxury accommodation and exquisite service were not going out the holiday window when my niece came along.

Instead, they’ve maintained the desire for all these delights during their time away, and simply couple them with the new requisites of a kids creche, a range of child-friendly activities and some evening entertainment that my niece can toddler dance along to while they cocktail.

They are the perfect GF Victoria candidates.

So too, was the grandfather I met having a surreptitious pre-dinner whisky and cigar on the rooftop bar at GF Victoria.

He was here with his wife, his son, his daughter-in-law and an assorted brood of grandchildren.

The hotel allowed him to share a great deal of quality time with his relatives (and make those all-important memories), as well as provide ample opportunities for him to escape for a quiet drink in the adult-only areas, or enjoy a round of golf just beyond the hotel walls.

Another perfect GF Victoria candidate.

My Stay

And let’s not forget the girls.

Myself included.

With a fabulous onsite spa, secluded sunbathing spots on secret levels, meditative Japanese gardens, yoga classes and an array of healthy food on offer, the GF Victoria is a getaway dream.

The sophisticated Plaza del Duque shopping centre and sands of Playa del Duque are also just 5 minutes away if you ever manage to leave!

They say that being a jack of all trades renders you a master of none, but the GF Victoria bucks this trend with luxurious aplomb.

Instead, thanks to its enormous site and cleverly curated spaces (some adult only, some child only and some mixed), it provides luxury for all – without compromising on quality or sliding into pretension.

I loved, for example, the fact that at breakfast time, I could alfresco dinner from the exuberant buffet in a wonderfully peaceful adult-only zone.

I also loved that I could disappear to the rooftop infinity pool for a quick dip and even get my white bits a little browner in the discreet, adults-only naturist sunbathing terrace.

Suite Rooms

Tenerife, GF Victoria, Room

My enormous room, which contained no fewer than 2 full bathrooms (1 with a bath), a double balcony with garden views, a living room area, a work station, smart TVs and a kitchenette, dwarfed me and the meagre amount of luggage I had for just 5 days in Tenerife, but I certainly savoured the space!

Lightening fast WIFI (with individual room logins) meant answering emails with a Nespresso coffee in hand on the balcony was a breeze, before I set off to breakfast (quite frankly the most fabulous buffet array I’ve ever set eyes on, including a whole gluten-free section) to delight in freshly pressed juices, fabulous cheeses, sourdough breads, crunchy granolas and decadent pastries.

After that, it was off to explore another section of the hotel using the handy GF Victoria app, because trust me without it, you’ll be lost.

Yes despite having navigated myself half way around the globe, I honestly could not get the hang of the GF Victoria given how vast it is!

Fabulous Facilities

Tenerife, GF Victoria, Pool

Every day, I’d stumble upon a new pool (I counted a total of 5), a new facility (mini golf and the climbing wall seem to be the big hitters), a new sports court (sunset tennis anyone?) and a new lift, which lead me to new floors and new areas.

For if there’s one downside to the GF Victoria Tenerife, it’s that it’s freaking confusing to navigate!

My advice, download the app and use it!

Not only for orientation, but to book restaurants, find the fitness centre, learn about upcoming entertainment and events and even reserve airport shuttles.

Because thankfully, being just 20 minutes from Tenerife’s main airport, you don’t have plan leaving too far in advance!

Just make sure you don’t miss a drink with that rooftop volcano view backdrop before you leave!

Mini Travel Guide to Tenerife

Tenerife, Ancla Medano, Restaurant

Best Time to Visit?

Situated off the coast of West Africa, yet part of Spain and Europe, Tenerife provides plentiful sunshine hours and good temperatures 12 months of the year, making it an excellent winter sun destination.

Summers can be stinking hot here however, so the best time to visit is really October through May.

How to Get There?

Tenerife Sur is the main airport on the island and, as the name suggests, is located in the south of the island, just 20 minutes from the GF Victoria.

As always, I use Skyscanner to get the best flight prices, as they include budget airlines in their searches.
