Safari Insurance : Why I Chose Travel Insurance from World Nomads

Kenya, Masai Mara, Safari

So if you haven’t heard the latest news … we’re off to Africa!

Yep, leaving Australia and the giant road trip Down Under behind us, we’re off to experience a different type of road trip in a very different continent.

Yes for 2 months, I’ll be joining the guys at Absolute Africa for a mammoth Overland Journey from Johannesburg in South Africa all the way to Nairobi in Kenya!

And on the way, we’ll be taking in everything from the wild national parks of Botswana to the tropical island of Zanzibar!

From hiking to see some of the world’s last remaining gorilla populations to experiencing the culture of the Masai Mara, it’s going to be a jam-packed trip of adventure and amazingness!

And it’s going to involve me ticking a dam few things off my bucket list too!

*** Eek! So exciting! ***

Africa Travel Resources

However, as anyone whose travelled to Africa before knows, there’s quite a lot of preparation that goes into a trip like this.

From making sure your vaccinations are up to speed, to getting the right visa information, there’s a fair few Africa travel resources I’ve been spending a lot of time on lately!

And here they are:

The World Health Organisation is a great place to look if you need to know more about the health precautions you need to take when travelling to various African countries.

In terms of visa requirements, then consulting your foreign office website is a good idea. Here is a list of useful sites below:

British Citizens: https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice

US Citizens: https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/country.html

Australian Citizens: https://visalink.com.au/visa-quick-check

If you’re looking to find the perfect safari or overland trip, then Safari Bookings is a great Africa travel resource, which lists dates, prices and destinations in an easily searchable format.

And when it comes to insurance, I love World Nomads who provide travel insurance for travellers from over 140 countries.

That’s because when it comes to Africa Travel Insurance, you don’t want to mess around.

Yes I really want to know I’m well-covered and in safe hands when travelling a continent like Africa (perhaps it’s because I’m getting sensible in my old age!) rather than risk something going horribly wrong.

And that’s exactly why I’ve chosen travel insurance from World Nomads.

Backed by reputable insurers who provide you with great cover with trusted reliable underwriters I definitely feel like I’m in safe hands with these guys.

They also have 24 hour emergency assistance and the highest levels of support and claims management when you need it most.

Because trust me, having someone well informed and engaged on the other end of telephone when you’re miles from home and potentially in quite a stressful situation is a real blessing!

All WorldNomads.com members also have access to up-to-date travel safety alerts, as well as travel safety advice and tips online through the World Nomad Safety Hub, which is another great Africa travel resource packed full of up to-date and useful information.

Safari Travel Insurance

Absolute Africa, Botswana, Elephant Sunset

But perhaps what I like most about travel insurance from World Nomads, and why I ultimately chose them to cover my Overland trip in Africa, is because their policies are designed for adventurous travellers.

Yes with Africa being such a diverse continent and with the trip encompassing so many different activities, countries and climates, finding a diverse safari travel insurance policy was essential for me.

Brilliantly, World Nomads cover overseas medical, evacuation, baggage and a range of adventure sports and activities.

This means their policies are perfect for giving me peace of mind when it comes to getting the most from my adventure.

For example, it’s great to know that my safaris in Africa are covered, as is my scuba diving, my hikes, my cycle rides and my camping.

If I want to go kayaking, I’m covered and if I want to go skydiving, I’m covered too – this means World Nomads can provide cover for many of the activities an epic African Overland experience includes.

Needless to say there are terms and conditions attached however, so you should always carefully read the policy details to ensure that the product is right for you.

Budget Travel Insurance

Namibia, Etosha National Park, Solo Rhino

I also chose Safari travel insurance from World Nomads, because they offered great value for money.

Yep, by focusing on what I need and leaving out what I don’t, World Nomads prices are some of the most competitive online, which is ideal for us budget travellers.

It really is a no-brainer that travel insurance will be money well-spent if something goes wrong when you’re away.

In fact many companies, such as Absolute Africa, make travel insurance a requirement when it comes to booking with them, so why not get your free quote right here, right now:

Flexible Travel Insurance

Botswana, Okavango Delta, Zebra

But of course, while buying travel insurance is often a way of preparing for the worst, it’s important to prepare for the best too!

Yes if my time in Africa is anything like last time, there’s no doubt I’ll be falling in love with continent all over again and staying there longer than I planned!

And, like most of the places I travel in, I either don’t book a return flight or I change it, miss it or cancel it!

***Hands in the air if you do this too!**

But once again, World Nomads have me covered.

Yes, these guys are able to offer me flexibility when I need it.

I don’t have to have a return ticket booked in order to take out a policy with them and if I do have one and then change it, I can buy more cover while I’m still away.

Equally, I can claim online and can even buy travel insurance from them once I’m already abroad.

All of this makes World Nomad the ideal choice for my Safari insurance. Does it sound like yours?
